What is Knewton?
Knewton offers an online test prep course for the LSAT that uses adaptive learning technology to home in on the areas where students need the most help—and then provide the course work and materials they need, all online.

Try it before you buy it
Before enrolling for the full course, students can explore the program through theirs 7-day free trial. Trial users receive access to several key features of the course, including the full-length, official LSAT Preptest 57 with instant score reports and detailed explanations for every answer choice.

Students can also attend a live, online LSAT class, view concept videos and create custom quizzes based on the topics that they want to get the most practice on.

The fine print
So you’ve taken the trial and you want to sign up. Knewton has a one-week risk-free enrollment—if you decide within seven days that the course isn’t right for you, they will refund your full course price.

Once you’ve committed to the full course, your access is good for one year from the sign-up date and you can access course materials at any time from a computer with an Internet connection.

If you attend the classes and complete the assigned coursework, Knewton offers a minimum 5 point increase on your LSAT score or they’ll refund the entire cost of the program. The point guarantee is based on either the score you receive from taking Knewton’s online diagnostic test or your previous official LSAT score.

The Course
Depending on the section you sign up for, Knewton LSAT courses last from four to eight weeks. Sections meet from one to three times per week, for three hours each session. If your schedule changes, it’s simple to switch between sections.

Knewton encourages every student to take a full length diagnostic before getting started to establish a baseline score. Although you may opt out of the diagnostic test, be aware that you may not be eligible for the money back guarantee if you don’t take it. If you do opt out, make sure to submit a prior official LSAT score.

In-depth answer explanations:

Every course begins with a program orientation and a look inside the law school experience. Knewton’s teaching team covers the full range of concepts you’ll need to master for the LSAT. Take a look at the current syllabus here.

Students enter the virtual classroom by logging in at the scheduled class time (screenshots below).  Every class features a live on-screen lead teacher introducing concepts and fielding questions. An off-screen teaching assistant moderates a chat room where students can direct their questions. Because questions go into a queue, students can ask as many questions they need to without fear of holding up the class. There is also an option to mark a question as private or public.

An onscreen PowerPoint slideshow illustrates the concept the teacher is covering. Students can also download supplementary class materials before and after class.

If you’re worried about forgetting when class sessions start, you can set up either text or email alerts to remind you.

Text alerts:

If you do happen to miss a class, no need to worry. You can access any class on demand from the archive.

Along with the live classes, students also have access to “office hours” 2-4 hours a week, where you can chat directly with teachers and have specific questions answered.

Knewton also makes every released LSAT question available (all 5,746 of them) from all 57 LSAT tests, with many in a printable format so you can practice under actual test conditions.

The course also allows you to easily view your performance on each section and see where you need to work harder.

Track your Progress

Once you’ve taken a number of PrepTests, you can then track your progress across the tests through the Charts feature.

Charts

After determining your weakest areas, you can create customizable quizzes anywhere from 5-25 questions long so you can practice as much as you want. All questions are drawn from actual LSAT tests.

What happens after the course?
If you complete all the course requirements, take the LSAT and don’t see at least a 5 point increase, get in touch with Knewton for a full refund.  If you’re happy with your results and recommend Knewton to a friend, the company offers a refer–a- friend bonus where you can both receive $50 off the course price.
